    2025 PSI Annual Conference

    Dates: Sunday 8th - Wednesday 11th June 2025 The PSI 2025 Conference was held from Sunday 8th to Wednesday 11th June 2025 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. The Conference program extended over 3 days from Monday to Wednesday. It included a variety of plenary and parallel sessions, as well as breakout discussion sessions, workshops, and a poster session. On the Sunday prior to the conference there were pre-conference course(s). Registration included multiple social events, including a welcome reception on Sunday evening, a networking event on Monday and, last but not least, the conference gala dinner on the Tuesday night. There was plenty of networking with other delegates and sponsors at breaks. Thank you to everyone involved in the conference: speakers, poster presenters, delegates, exhibitors, sponsors and the PSI scientific committee, for contributing to another fantastic event.

    2023 PSI Annual Conference

    The PSI 2023 Conference took place at Novotel Hammersmith, London between the 11th and 14th of June 2023. This year's Conference was record-breaking all round, with 618 delegates listening to more than 120 speakers across 40 sessions!     European Statistical Meeting: Latest Trends in Health Technology Assessments

    This 1-day scientific meeting will provide an update on latest trends in HTA, including: the Real-World Evidence Navigator tool created by the IMI GetReal project; the EUnetHTA Joint Action 3 initiative and methodology being researched; introduction to value-based frameworks and estimands in HTA. Patient perspectives in HTA will be discussed including how to involve patients in HTA and latest methods in patient reported outcomes. HTA related methodological considerations will be highlighted including approaches to handle treatment switching in HTA. Industry HTA case studies will also be presented.

    Estimands Discussion Meeting

    In October 2014 the ICH Steering Committee endorsed a final Concept Paper with the goal of developing new regulatory guidance, suggested to be an Addendum to ICH E9, which promotes harmonised standards on the choice of estimands in clinical trials and an agreed framework for planning, conducting and interpreting sensitivity analyses of clinical trial data. An Expert Working Group sponsored by ICH has been established to further develop the concept and is due to report findings in December 2015.     This is an interactive online training workshop providing an in-depth review of the estimand framework as laid out by ICH E9(R1) addendum with inputs from estimand experts, case studies, quizzes and opportunity for discussions. You will develop an estimand in a therapeutic area of interest to your company. In an online break-out room, you will join a series of team discussions to implement the estimand framework in a case study, aligning estimands, design, conduct, analysis, (assumptions + sensitivity analyses) to the clinical objective and therapeutic setting.

    PSI Training Course: Introduction to Bayesian Methods

    Dates: Module 1 - Wednesday 20th November Module 2 - Tuesday 26th November Module 3 - Thursday 28th November This interactive and hands on online course, aimed at beginner Bayesians who have little or no experience in Bayesian statistics, is split into 3 modules. Module 1 introduces Bayesian concepts and looks at how Bayes has been used recently in the Pharmaceutical Industry, and participants will undertake their own data collection exercise in order to analyse a simple Bayesian trial. Module 2 takes a look at the concepts of Bayesian statistics and key terminology and provides a chance to analyse some data using a simple Bayesian approach. Module 3 takes a further look at the use of Bayesian statistics in drug development and regulatory requirements and digs deeper into analysis issues.

    This course consists of 5 x 2 hour training sessions run over 5 weeks. For those who cannot attend the date and time provided, there will be a recording provided and a follow-up 1 hour Q and A session. Participation will provide access to extensive course materials in the form of a “bookdown” site. However, this is designed as a hands-on, interactive course. Both you and the trainers will work entirely within the RStudio Cloud development environment, which will remain accessible between virtual sessions in order to further explore and cement your understanding.

    Introduction To Industry Training Course 2020

    The ITIT course will take 25 delegates new to the industry on a complete drug development experience from discovery to marketing. They will visit 6 companies to learn about 6 topics from experts in their field. The ITIT course will have 3 sessions in continental Europe and 3 sessions in the UK. The start of the 2020-2021 course will be delayed until face-to-face meetings with up to 30 people are permitted and companies are allowing travel again.

    The UK government have recently announced that level 7 apprenticeships must be fully funded by the employer from January 2026, for any apprentice over the age of 21. With funding for MSc's at an all time low, and universities courses facing closures, the apprenticeship scheme remains as important as ever, as a tool to encourage new statisticians into our industry. In this dedicated meeting, Valerie Millar (chair of the apprenticeship scheme) will provide full updates on the government changes and seek feedback and ideas from employers, universities and apprentices on how to keep this scheme successfully running for many years to come.

    MCP-Mod (Multiple Comparisons & Modelling) is a popular statistical methodology for model-based design and analysis of dose finding studies. This webinar will describe the theory behind MCP-Mod (plus extensions), and how to implement it within available software. Pantelis Vlachos (Cytel) will provide a brief introduction to the methodology and illustrate the MCP-MoD capabilities in EAST 6.5. Saswati Saha (Inserm, Aix-Marseille University) will discuss new variations and alternatives to MCP-Mod and show how to implement them in R.     Success at the PSI Careers Event 2014

    On the 19th February 2014, CALC ran the fourth annual PSI careers event. Fifteen different companies and organisations descended on the University of Sheffield, along with approximately 90 BSc, MSc and PhD students from across the country for a half-day event which consisted of a mix of presentations, newly created workshops, and time for the students to talk to the different companies.

PSI Training Course: Effective Leadership – the keys to growing your leadership capabilities

This course will consist of three online half-day workshops. The first will be aimed at building trust, the backbone of leadership and a key to becoming effective. This is key to building a solid foundation. The second will be on improving communication as a technical leader. This workshop will focus on communication strategies for different stakeholders and will involve tips on effective communication and how to develop the skills of active listening, coaching and what improv can teach us about good communication. The final workshop will bring these two components together to help leaders become more influential. This will also focus on how to use Steven Covey’s 7-Habits, in particular Habits 4, 5 and 6, which are called the habits of communication. The workshops will be interactive, allowing you to practice the concepts discussed. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. There will also be reflective time where you can think about what you are learning and how you might experiment with it.
