The keynote speaker on Tuesday 10 June will be Professor Jennifer Visser-Rogers. Bridging the Divide: How Academia/Industry collaborations have the power to transform clinical development

Professor Jennifer Visser-Rogers started her career in academia where she was a clinical trial statistician working on the development of new novel methodologies. Much of her research was focused on developing and implementing appropriate methodology for the analysis of repeat hospitalisations in patients with heart failure and she regularly interacted with industry and regulators to challenge the status quo. In 2019 she decided to make the move into industry and joined a CRO where she has established research teams and led expert strategic consulting groups. In this talk, Jen will talk about her journey from academia to industry, and what she has learnt along the way. She will discuss the differences between academic-run and industry-led clinical trials and what they can learn from each other. As we see a shift towards more innovative and complex clinical trials, it will become increasingly important to foster collaboration between the two groups. And as we see academics wanting to make the move into industry, how can we present ourselves as a viable alternative that is rich in research.
