What is DEIB?

Diversity

Recognizing, valuing, and respecting the unique characteristics, backgrounds, and perspectives that each individual brings. This includes, but is not limited to, differences in race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, socioeconomic status, cultural background, and life experiences. Embracing diversity means fostering an environment where all identities are welcomed and every voice is valued as an essential part of the PSI community.

Equity

Actively working to identify and remove barriers so that all individuals have fair access to opportunities, resources, and support. This means recognizing that different people may need different kinds of assistance to achieve similar outcomes and taking intentional steps to address systemic inequalities. Equity is about creating a level playing field where everyone can thrive and contribute fully to the PSI community.

Inclusion

Creating an environment where every individual feels welcomed, respected, and valued for their unique contributions. Inclusion means actively inviting participation, ensuring that all voices are heard, and providing support so that everyone can fully engage and thrive. It’s about building a culture where differences are celebrated, barriers to participation are removed, and every member feels empowered to be themselves and experience a genuine sense of belonging within the PSI community.

Belonging

Fostering a culture where every member feels genuinely accepted, connected, and valued for their authentic self. Belonging means that individuals are not only welcomed but also recognized as essential and integral to the community. It is about building meaningful connections, ensuring that everyone feels seen and heard, and empowering members to fully participate and contribute within the PSI community

Side‑by‑side illustration comparing equality and equity: three people of different heights stand on boxes to see over a fence. In the equality panel, everyone has one box, so only the tallest can fully see. In the equity panel, boxes are distributed based on need, allowing all three to see over the fence.

Why is DEIB important to you and PSI?

An inclusive environment fosters a sense of belonging, making employees feel valued and respected.

DEIB initiatives improve engagement, retention, and overall well-being of employees.

Diversity is a source of creativity, innovation and change and so fosters business growth and success.

The PSI DEIB Advisory Group is aimed at fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and belonging community within PSI, to align with the PSI Strategy. Our mission is to create an environment where all members feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to contribute to the organisation's success.
