PSI Spotlight is a campaign used to highlight current, relevant topics within PSI. This could be anything from technical topics such as estimands and adaptive designs, to softer topics such as career development and work-life balance.

On November 10th the Board met with Committee members and representatives from different parts of the industry and academia for the annual Strategy Day. Topics included the digital strategy, ability of PSI’s current offering to meet the needs of our members, what the next generation of PSI will look like and how PSI should evolve to meet all our members’ needs. As the world is emerging from the pandemic, it is time for PSI to assess what it offers and provide value to a new generation of members.

The Regulatory European Special Interest Group (ESIG) is probably the longest serving ESIG, although it was predominantly referred to as a committee until the end of 2020. We have a total of 20 members from 8 countries and 17 companies, and our purpose is to co-ordinate regulatory activities across the European Pharmaceutical Statistical community and to engage with European Regulatory statisticians.

Welcome to the first Chairs update of 2021. I hope you, your family, friends and loved ones are all well. As I write this today we’re remembering 1 year to the day that the first lock-down occurred in the UK and whilst there are many things to feel sad and frustrated about, I took time this morning to reflect on all the opportunities that have arisen that may not have been the case without this year of isolation.

One of the great things about the PSI Board is its ability to adapt to meet our changing needs and focus areas. We have continuously done this over the years and as 2020 drew to a close I reflected a lot on what we had achieved, what we still wanted to accomplish and what were the barriers to holding us back. PSI are pleased to announce that following the postponement of our next face to face conference to 2022, we will instead be running an online conference next year. The online conference will be held over the same dates as previously planned, that is, between 21 to 23 June 2021.
