Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Location: Online
Date/Time(s): Term time during 2026
Number of volunteers needed: 5
Minimum time commitment: 30 minute session per fortnight
I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here is an outreach activity, engaging school students with people working in STEM.
By taking part, you:
- Develop communication skills
- Find out what young people think about maths
- Inspire the next generation in STEM through rewarding public engagement
- Help students apply their learning to real-world challenges and careers
- Share your work and experiences to help school students relate
- Support students to break down stereotypes of what a mathematician is ‘supposed’ to be
Everything happens online. Take part at times that suit your schedule, from anywhere with an internet connection. Chat with students in text-only live chats, answer their questions about you, your work, your salary, or any other
topic – from robots to pizza toppings! Connect with students, rather than talking at them, by answering their questions about what matters the most to them. Uncover young people's ideas about science
and
gain a fresh perspective on your work.
How to apply: Please email volunteering@psiweb.org by 12 December 2025 if you're interested. To find out more, visit the I'm a Scientist website.
