Time‑limited volunteer appointment
PSI is seeking an engaged and experienced leader within our membership to take on the role of Chair, PSI Rebrand & Website Working Group. This is a high‑profile volunteer role, leading one of the most significant and visible programmes in PSI’s recent history.
As PSI approaches its 50‑year anniversary, we are undertaking a comprehensive rebrand, followed by the design and delivery of a new website. This programme will refresh PSI’s visual identity and messaging, strengthen our positioning, and deliver a modern, user‑centred digital platform that better serves our members and external stakeholders. It will shape how PSI is perceived by members, future statisticians, partners, and the wider community for years to come.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a PSI member to play a high‑impact leadership role, helping define PSI’s future identity at a landmark moment.
About the role
The Chair will lead delivery of the PSI rebrand and website programme on behalf of the PSI. Working closely with professional administrators, external suppliers, and PSI volunteers, the role focuses on leadership, alignment, decision-making and momentum, rather than hands‑on project administration or technical delivery.
This is a time‑limited volunteer role, expected to run for an initial 12‑month period, covering delivery of the rebrand, website launch, and an initial post‑launch phase. There is potential to extend the role by up to a further 6 months, if required.

Key responsibilities
As Chair, you will:
- Lead and chair the PSI Rebrand & Website Working Group, providing focus and leadership throughout the programme
- Work closely with Moore Engage (PSI’s administrators and formal project managers) to agree priorities, governance processes, and key decision points
- Act as the senior volunteer lead and primary PSI contact for the appointed branding and website agency
- Ensure the programme reflects PSI’s strategy, values, and the needs of its membership
- Identify which PSI committees, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), or individuals should be engaged at different stages, and facilitate structured and proportionate input
- Balance inclusivity and consultation with the need to maintain progress and deliver outcomes
- Make operational decisions within the agreed scope, escalating key issues and seeking formal approval at defined points
- Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and recommendations through appropriate PSI governance channels
Working with Moore Engage and delivery partners
The Chair will work in close partnership with Moore Engage, who will provide formal project management and administrative support, including scheduling, documentation, supplier coordination, and tracking delivery against milestones.
This allows the Chair to focus on leadership, strategic alignment, and stakeholder engagement, rather than day‑to‑day project administration.
Working with PSI committees and Special Interest Groups
PSI’s strength lies in its active committees and SIGs. The rebrand and website programme will draw on this expertise through targeted, time‑limited engagement at key stages.
The Chair will coordinate this engagement, ensuring:
- The right voices are involved at the right time;
- Requests for input are clear and proportionate;
- Feedback is synthesised and used constructively to support decision‑making.
Governance and reporting
The Chair will lead delivery, align stakeholders, and make day‑to‑day operational decisions within an agreed governance framework. Formal sign‑off at key decision points will be provided by the PSI Board of Directors
The role will report to the PSI Chair or delegate
Time commitment
This is a meaningful volunteer commitment, reflecting the importance and visibility of the programme and offering a chance to make a lasting contribution to PSI. The time commitment is expected to average up to half a day per week, with flexibility and peaks at key stages.
The Chair will be supported through:
- A dedicated working group,
- Professional project management from Moore Engage, and
- Clear governance, escalation and decision‑making processes.
Who should consider this role?
This role may be of interest to PSI members who:
- Have experience leading or chairing complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives
- Are confident providing direction and making decisions in a governance setting
- Enjoy facilitating collaboration and guiding delivery across diverse groups
- Are comfortable working with senior volunteers, professional administrators, and external suppliers
- Are motivated to give back to PSI by shaping its future direction
Experience in branding, digital projects, communications, or organisational change would be helpful, but is not essential. Strong leadership, judgement, and the ability to coordinate and guide delivery are more important than technical expertise.
Why volunteer?
This role offers a unique opportunity to:
- Play a visible leadership role within PSI
- Shape PSI’s future identity and digital presence at a landmark moment
- Work closely with PSI Board of Directors, committees, and volunteers across the Organisation
- Contribute lasting value to the PSI community
