An Introduction from PSI’s New Chair, Naomi Givens

Jul 1, 2025, 08:16 AM

My association with PSI began when I was part of the 2000/2001 ITIT course – a formative experience that introduced me not only to the organisation’s expertise but also to its spirit of collaboration, community and ‘networking’. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of being actively involved as a volunteer, contributing in a variety of capacities. From my time on the External Affairs Committee, helping to establish “Before the Headlines” to serving as Contracts and Partnerships Director and, most recently, as Vice Chair, I’ve seen firsthand the remarkable dedication of PSI’s members and volunteers. Our committees and SIGs form the backbone of the organisation, and their collective efforts have been instrumental in driving forward PSI’s mission.

PSI has always been a wonderful organisation that delivers great value to its members, and I am committed to ensuring it continues to thrive. As Chair, aligned with our 2025-2027 strategy, I plan to focus on supporting our members as they navigate the evolving landscape of our profession, shaped by new technology and innovation. Career progression and professional development will remain at the heart of what we do, helping members adapt to the changing demands of their roles.

One of my objectives during my tenure is to foster a strong sense of community within PSI. I want to ensure that the incredible work done by our committees and SIGs is more broadly communicated and celebrated, and that the Board of Directors are more visible. When I wasn’t actively involved as a volunteer, I realised how much I had missed in terms of understanding the scope of PSI’s impact. I want all our members to feel connected to and informed about the organisation’s activities, creating a more inclusive and engaged environment.

With a view to that objective here is a little about me personally; I’m Mum to a 14 year old girl and 18 year old man(?), I enjoy exercise and love a physical challenge, I enjoy travel and new experiences/food but also call time at home with a drink and a jigsaw ‘my happy place’. I love being with people, needing ‘alone time’ is not something I’ve experienced often in my life and if there’s good music and a dance floor, you’ll find me on it.

Thank you for your trust and support, I’m confident that with the superb Board of Directors and exceptional volunteers, PSI will continue to thrive and be successful.
