Science Industry Partnership Ambassadors

Jun 15, 2015, 13:34 PM
The Science Industry Partnership (SIP) Ambassador programme is England wide and draws on the fantastic experience of inspirational individuals from industry. SIP Ambassadors are a network of Industry professionals who engage, inspire and enthuse young people into careers within the science based industries. One hundred industry experts have now registered to become SIP Ambassadors and have completed more than fifty events to increase understanding of science careers with young people.
Recently, SIP Ambassadors have engaged students in events as diverse as speed networking, industry exploration insight days and regional jobs fairs. More than 13,000 people have now accessed careers advice through SIP resources, including over 1000 at the National Big Bang event in March, exploring their potential for careers in the scientific sector.

SIP Ambassadors deliver presentations about their career histories, demonstrate scientific experiments, talk about the breadth of careers available in science and promote opportunities for students in their own companies. Their experience and passion for science careers is helping to inspire future generations of innovative professionals working in science

“I decided to become a SIP ambassador, to break the stereotypes, to show people young and old, that working in science is not just white lab coats and safety glasses and to encourage as many people I can to take up a career in science, proving that science is fun and very rewarding!”
Maiher-Un-Nisa Khan, Operational Quality Officer, GSK & SIP Ambassador

“As a member of the SIP Board, I felt it was important to proactively participate in the SIP Ambassador programme and I am delighted that Takeda now has 3 fully trained Ambassadors out in the field, spreading the word about careers in science.”
Linda Millett, Head of HR, Takeda Cambridge Ltd
