PSI Webinar(s): Causal inference in Clinical Trials
Over the course of two sessions, a panel of 8 esteemed speakers will give an introduction to the topic, followed by a presentation of case studies & interactive panel discussion.
As of the end of September 2023, PSI is 1,931 members strong, spanning across 53 countries and 5 continents. Approximately 42% of PSI’s members live outside of the UK, with the next largest contributors being Germany, Switzerland, and the United States.
As well as being geographically diverse, PSI’s members work for a host of different companies, with 32 of these having at least 5 full members. Thank you to all those companies that consistently support PSI’s mission. However, PSI is not exclusive to those working in the pharmaceutical industry. PSI’s membership base currently includes 358 students and teachers from schools and universities across the UK and beyond.
Many of these members had the opportunity to interact in-person at this year’s annual conference in London, which saw record-breaking attendance with 618 delegates listening to more than 120 speakers across 40 sessions.
In addition to in-person events, PSI endeavours to meet the needs of this diverse membership base by offering a range of virtual content, with the most attended live virtual event in the past year being the PSI EIWG webinar: “Proposing Estimands from Different Perspectives,” with ~460 attendees joining in March. Event attendance remained high throughout the year, with the most attended live virtual event of the past 3 months being the PSI webinar: “Application of Bayesian Methods in Confirmatory Trials” with ~340 attendees.
PSI also currently provides access to over 400 recorded trainings through its Video-on-demand service, 47 of which were added this year alone. While “Proposing Estimands from Different Perspectives,” also holds the title for the most-watched VoD of the past year, PSI’s Journal Club webinar: “Propensity Scores” is the most watched title added within the past 3 months.
PSI also engages with its members via social media platforms, including LinkedIn and X (formerly known as Twitter). At the end of September, the number of followers on each platform totalled 3,921 and 1,066, respectively.
As an engaged community of individuals from a range of different backgrounds and disciplines, PSI strives to deliver varied and accessible content to its ever-growing membership across the globe.

Our monthly webinar explores examples of innovative data visualisations relevant to our day to day work. Each month a new dataset is provided from a clinical trial or other relevant example, and participants are invited to submit a graphic that communicates interesting and relevant characteristics of the data.
This course consists of 5 x 2 hour training sessions run over 5 weeks. For those who cannot attend the date and time provided, there will be a recording provided and a follow-up 1 hour Q and A session. Participation will provide access to extensive course materials in the form of a “bookdown” site. However, this is designed as a hands-on, interactive course. Both you and the trainers will work entirely within the RStudio Cloud development environment, which will remain accessible between virtual sessions in order to further explore and cement your understanding.
The Pre-Clinical SIG Workshop returns for 2024, bringing you a two half-days event, starting with a course on pre-clinical design of experiments. We will also have speakers on topics such as statistics and genetic toxicology, the new and promising OMARS DOE and ANOVA-type.
