Following on from the success of this year’s PSI conference in London, where we welcomed our highest ever number of delegates, we are delighted to invite you to join us for the PSI 2020 Conference. The 2020 conference is taking place in the beautiful city of Barcelona on 7-10 June 2020. The theme for 2020 is ‘Shaping the Future of Statistics. Registration will open in November with the early bird deadline on 25 March 2020.

The programme is currently being developed and we are hugely excited to share this with you soon. We have lined up a range of fascinating speakers and are developing excellent content for the parallel sessions and workshops. The main conference programme will run from Monday 7 June through to the afternoon of Wednesday 10 June. There will be two pre-conference workshops running on Sunday 6 June and further details for these will be published shortly along with information on how to register.

We are delighted to announce our two keynote speakers for 2020:

Deborah Ashby – President of the Royal Statistical Society and Director of the School of Public Health at Imperial College in London.

Simon Singh – author, science journalist and TV producer.  Author of “Fermat’s Last Theorem”, “The Code Book” and “The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets”.

As with previous years, the PSI Conference will provide plenty of opportunities to network, make new acquaintances, meet up with colleagues and hear the latest developments in statistics in the pharmaceutical industry. Further details on the social events will be available shortly.

Abstract submissions

We are currently accepting abstract submissions. In 2019 we received a huge number of outstanding abstracts providing the reviewers with a very tricky job of selecting the finest. The PSI Conference provides a wonderful platform to present your work. We highly recommend submitting your abstract, as it is a great opportunity to showcase your work either as an oral or a poster presentation.

The deadlines for submitting abstracts are as follows:

Oral: 29th November 2019
Poster: 28th February 2020

All abstract submitters that are chosen to have their work as an oral presentation at the conference will receive a 10% discount on the registration fee.

We welcome abstracts on any subject but would be particularly interested in the following:

  • Estimand case studies
  • Medical devices
  • Data visualisation
  • Decision-making e.g. policies/go-no-go/development programs
  • Data Science and its applications
  • Pre-clinical and early phase statistics
  • Bayesian topics within early or late phase
  • Case studies on Adaptive Design
  • Innovative trial design
  • Non-parametric studies
  • Model development in practice
  • Personalised medicine
  • Combining sources of data

If you are a career young statistician (approximately less than 5 years working in the pharmaceutical industry) then you will have the option to present in a dedicated contributed session alongside your peers, should you wish. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in presenting in a friendly environment and to network with those of a similar experience at other companies.

Given the success of the 1 minute poster preview in the last few years, anyone selected for a poster, will be asked if they would like to give a 1 minute presentation on their poster, to give people a brief insight into their work, as part of the final session on the Monday, leading into the poster session.

In order to submit an abstract, please download a form, which must be completed and sent to psi2020conference@mci-group.com

Successful applicants will be notified within three weeks following the deadline.

Finally, sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are already ongoing, thanks to those who have already signed up. We will be allocating the choice of exhibition space in the order, exhibitors sign-up. So get in early, to secure the best space!

Should your company be interested please contact Alex Currie (alexander.8.currie@gsk.com) or Chris Watton on (chris@wattonhall.com).

We do hope that you will be joining us in sunny Barcelona and attending a conference that is growing from strength to strength.
