Senior Biostatistician

Overview

This position provides expert statistical input and project management for statistical activities in relation to clinical trials and statistical activities executed by the Consumer Healthcare division in multiple categories.  This role is accountable for the successful execution of the delegated projects for designated categories.  This position involves oversight of studies where the Statistical execution activities are outsourced to Third Party Vendors.  As required, may deputise for Head of BDM on statistical reviews/approvals and other interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for delivery of statistical activties for the categories/studies of responsibility
  • Provides scientific statistical input from NCDP through to publication where appropriate, including presenting and discussing study results with internal/external bodies as required
  • Provides statistical input for activities to support the business outside of clilnical studies, such as due diligence, complaint/challenge  and training
  • Directly works with GSK study teams to correctly understand the statistical requirements for clinical trials in their area of responsibility
  • Provides Third Party oversight of strategic and tactical partners as related to area of responsibility including input/review of study documentation and maintenance of study specific oversight plans
  • Fulfil the role of BDM Representative, providing BDM leadership for study teams, as appropriate
  • Review and approve Third Party task orders, change orders and invoices, as appropriate
  • Statistical oversight for regulatory submissions
  • Delivers expert technical knowledge and leadership to the business for statistical activities, helping to ensure best practice and achievement of business objectives based on science and values, including leading or providing input in departmental initiatives
  • Stay current on methodological/technical advances in relevant field

Basic Qualifications

  • BSc level degree in Statistics or related field
  • Has experience in leading the statistical activities in multiple therapeutic areas and multiple projects
  • Experience in regulatory submissions
  • Experience setting up third party vendors and providing oversight for statistical activities
  • Excellence influencing skills, which are applied effectively at all levels of the organisation and across functional boundaries, especially at the senior management level
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skill
  • Strong teamwork

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters level degree in Statistics or related field
  • To achieve expertise in statistical methods and experimental design
